Spotlight On: Wakefield

An introduction to the work of Ryan Jarman of The Cribs…
Without The Cribs, Wakefield would be barely worth mentioning. They put the merry little city on the map and made other acts proud to be from there. And on top of that, they are just a really brilliant band. So brilliant, I named this blog after one of their songs from their first album. They always seem to be touring and doing their bit for the fans. They headlined the NME tour earlier this year, (which was fantastic by the way), and also played a 17 date tour of the U.S including a spot at SXSW. Third album – Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever – is, as the title suggests, a strike out to all the sexist lad-rockers out there. Women’s Needs is an especially good song for any feminists out there.
‘See those guys they think they’re so clever, Spot them outside, Women’s needs – Whatever’
Although the only time i heard that song played live I got shoved out the way by a man who was well over 6 foot. Bastard.
